Get Stylish with Nina Garcia from Project Runway and Elle
I’ve been reading this fun copy of The Little Black Book of Style, by Nina Garcia, and I have an extra one to give away to you!
This book has fashion tips from the Fashion Director of Elle and the insightful and incisive Project Runway judge, Nina Garcia.
Equally at home in couture and thrift shop finds, Ms. Garcia points out that style is mostly attitude: “Fashion can be bought, Style one must possess.” –Edna Woolman Chase
Whether you need to edit, embellish, or mix it up, Ms. Garcia has some great suggestions to help you find your own sense of style.
When you feel stylish, you also feel more confident–ready to take on the next challenge whether it is a meeting with a client, a night out, or just a new playgroup.
Ms. Garcia covers special situations that many fashion advice books ignore. One of my favorite sections is her advice for pregnant women: “Wear jewelry. Lots of jewelry. Make the guy buy it for you–he got you into this. He can help you style your way through it.
With advice, inspiring quotes, cute illustrations, trends by decades, and designers to know, this book is a perfect gift for your favorite fashionista.

My style tip….forget the size on the tag. Wear what fits!
Valerie
What a fabulous prize! My style tip would be invest in good shoes that are stylish and fit. The extra money is worth it for classic, well made styles.
My style tip: If you’re on a fashion budget, buy well-made classic pieces!
Thanks for the great giveaway!
~liz
My style tip: Keep your pieces classic and simple and accessorize with scarves and jewelry.
Can’t wait to read this book!
My style tip: don’t forget the earrings. They always make you look better.
My Style Tip: Cute Shoes are a must!!
I so want to win this book …
my style tips … well, I don’t have any to give. Style is so not my thing … which is why I need this book people LOL!
I will say though (since I just had to talk to my 8 year old about this) and I told her “Don’t buy something simply because you think it’s ‘cool.’ Buy something that you like and will actually wear more than one time!”
My style tip: watch “What Not to Wear” on TLC. They have great advice for every figure.
sarah_carol (at) hotmail (dot) com
My style tip is to read Trinny & Susannah’s fun What Not to Wear books.
Style tip. Don’t wear knee hi’s with shorts! Especiall old men with black socks and shorts.. big no no in my book.
Thanks for the givewaway!
My style tip is a maternity style tip
- you can wear some stylish skirts as a top. I got this tip from a baby magazine when I was pregnant. :)
My style tip: Just because it’s on sale does not mean it’s a deal. Spend a little more money for a few quality pieces than less money for more “cheap” pieces.
My style tip: make sure your socks match.
I haven’t always followed even my own joke of a style tip, but I’m trying to improve on my past record now. I guess that’s why I need this book!
Tip: great fit is the most important thing. If it doesn’t fit – it won’t flatter you.
My style tips (I have two):
1) You always need a little black dress. You can do so much with a simple, strapped black dress!
2) You need at least one classic shoe, like a Mary Jane
A great piece of jewelry can make an outfit. I love wearing jewelry. Even if you gain a few pounds, your jewelry still looks good on you!
Please add my name to the list!
My style tip: As a mom of 3 little ones, if it has not been spit up on or slobbered on – then we are ready to go!
Can’t you tell, I seriously need help!
Blessings!
Renee
Keep it Simple!

Every closet should have one pair of great fitting jeans, a button up shite shirt and a hot pair of boots :)
Hmmm…this is a tough one…I would say to have a few basics (black skirt, black pants, etc.) and then add colorful fun stylish tops and rotate them out to have what appears to be many new outfits. Does that make sense?
style tip?? what is that. I need a style tip.
please enter me thanks
My style tip? Invest in a full-length mirror, and use it! ;)
Style tip: do your hair and add accessories – then you’ll look more pulled together in any outfit.
I need all the style help I can get. I guess my style tip is – if it feels uncomfortable it probably looks uncomfortable too.
I would love and need this!!!
dark colors are all slimming, not just black.
My style tip: buy clothing that is your style, not what is in fashion. All fashions don’t work with everyone and when you stick to your own style, you’ll also collect a wardrobe you will treasure for years.
Please enter me to win, I’d love to read the book, I’m a big fan!
I have no style tips… which is why I could use this book! Please count me in… thank you! :)
I like to have a lot of pieces that can be either dressed up or down depending on my plans. I could use some help.
My style tip? Never try to sqeeze yourself into something that is too small. It won’t make you appear slimmer; in fact, you’ll look heavy & lumpy.
I could definitely use an injection of style. I used to be so stylish, becoming a mother has caused it all to sort of leak out.
My style tip: never take any “style” advice from me, because I’m clueless!
Not that I’m so qualified to give style tips… but…My style tip — Shoes and handbags first! The rest will fall into place.
(and I second what the first commenter said–choose what fits, not what the tag says will fit
melanie at welfing dot net
my style tip: groomed eyebrows do more for my face and feeling-of-style than all the makeup i could put on!
Style tip…watch people and figure out what you like and what you don’t like then read “What Not To Wear” to tailor your style to your bodyshape.
enter me please
Never ever wear pleated front pants.
This sounds really great!!! Thanks.

My favorite style tip? Black makes you look slimmer.
I need this book so that I actually have a style tip! I need help!
I am in love with Project Runway, can’t wait for the new season. My style tip: be yourself. Don’t let the trends influence your style. And number 2, Bare Minerals cosmetics in amazing, I recommend it to any and everyone.
Check out my giveaway, too.

Thanks for the chance to win. Cleanliness is next to Godliness – avoid the grunge look:)
please put me in the draw

My tip- use the expensive makeups, lux soaps, and pretty clothes now instead of saving them for a rainy day. Not only do we not know what tomorrow might bring but it also gives us the joy of feeling good now rather than later.
jocoiner[at]gmail.com
My tips:
Avoid empire waists if you’re big-busted; avoid gathered waists if you’re not slim.
My fav is princess seams, but that’s always hard b/c I’m short. But when you get it right: mmm-Hmm. Looks good. ;o)
NEver let your mother buy your clothes!!
Count me in Please!!
My style tip – learn what colors look good on you, and stick with those. Don’t buy something just because you like it on the rack – it might not look good on you.
I’ve love this book! I am a PR addict!
My tip:
Don’t do it yourself – get help from a professional stylist!

My best tip is to only buy something if after you try it on you feel fabulous in it, if you are unsure, don’t get it. you probably won’t wear it.
What a great book. I don’t really have any style tips – which is why I would to win the book – other than don’t wear black socks with shorts and sandals. I can manage that. :)
I’ve been wanting this book! My style tip is only wear something you love. Never settle for something that barely fits or hangs off of you!
My style tip: Wear what you think looks good on you, not what everyone else does.
My style tip: Don’t squeeze yourself into too tight clothing!
Thanks for entering me.

Oh gosh…style tip? I have NO style…that’s why I need this book!!!! I always went with the idea that if I like it that’s all that matters but I’ve been watching what not to wear and I’m seeing that it isn’t always the case!!!!
Sounds like something I could use, working on redefining my new style with a baby…not easy…
princesslimey(at)gmail(dot)com
If you saw what I wore to take my kids trick-or-treating tonight you would know I need this book. Unfortunately, I wasn’t wearing a costume. It’s just how I normally dress. I don’t have any style tips. Well, I guess I have one. Black is slimming. At least that’s what I tell myself when I wear it all the time.
I’d love to win this book!

My favorite style tip is that neutrals such as black, brown, tan…they go with everything!
Thanks for a great giveaway – I’d love to win this book!!
I would love to win! Wear clothes that actually fit. Please count me in. Thanx! Email is in my profile!
My style tip? Um…watch lots of “What Not To Wear” especially with Trina and Susanna on BBC if you can get it. I mean, Clinton and Stacey are great, but the BBC gals are FAB-U-LOUS!
So pick me, since I have no style of my own and need help from TV shows!
My style tip is to layers your clothes for an awesome look!
Don’t wear anything you’re not feeling comfortable in no matter how “stylish” it’s supposed to be, you will just look as uncomfotable as you’re feeling!
Watch Project Runway and know what truly works for you. That would be my tip – I’d love to win!!
julieahudson[at]hotmail[.]com
My style tip. Hmmm. I think you really need to dress for your body type and age (which is younger than it used to be). Classic is always a smart, smart fashion move. And do not be afraid to ask others what they think and more importantly, be willing to take whatever they tell you to heart. Sometimes those hip huggers really do make your otherwise shapely bottom look flat LOL
Please add my name to the hat, if you will :)
Happy Autumn and Good luck to all!

Not Much More Than This
my tip: usually less (makeup) is more
Style tip? Shope thrift stores!!! Gotta love ‘em!

This is fabulous, please count me in! My style tip is to keep your nail polish neat and clean, it can really polish or destroy a look. Thanks:-)
kpuleski [at] gmail [dot] com
I so need this! Please count me in!
Oooh this sounds so great!
Fashion tips: To dress up an outfit….add a blazer to any outfit whether it’s a dress or pant/blouse set. A blazer will always bring about that chic look…oh and a big necklace and voila! Thank you for including me in your giveaway :)
My wife would love this
My style tip is to wear what looks best on you. But don’t totally ignore the seasons hottest styles. But if they don’t look good on you, then don’t wear them. These days almost anything goes!
A style tip???? Hmmm… making sure you’re shoes “match”, ie no sneakers with a dressy blouse or sweater. It’s good to be comfy, so investing in some comfy slighly dressier shoes is wise. That being said I’m sure their are some faux pas that I’m guilty of myself so I’m sure that I could get some great use out of this book.
Wear solid colors and simple cuts, then dress it up with unique jewelry.
I’d love to win! Thank you.
A well fitting bra makes all the difference!!!
Always add Accessories!! Great Prize – love watching her on Runway!!
Less is more.
Pick the trend(s) that really flatter you…despite having a short span of “in-factor,” not all trends will suit every person.
I learned from what not to wear that dark, straight leg jeans are great for length, and it’s true.
badsheep13 (at) gmail (dot) com
My style tip: Know what you have in your closet already when you go shopping, so you won’t end up with tops that don’t match bottoms, and vice versa! Thanks! meg (dot) wilson (at) gmail (dot) com
I read fashion magazines for ideas, and then look for deals on items that I really want.
Don’t follow trends. When those leopard cowboy hats were popular in 2002, everyone wanted one.
Now when you see someone wearing a furry cowboy hat on a reality show you just feel sorry for them.
A classic might mean a great blazer, if you’re conservative or a perfect black leather jacket, if you’re punk.
Just buy pieces that you feel good in and that will last a long time.
tonylethal@aol.com
great book !!!!!
Fashion tip: invest in great underwear and bra(s) – not only will they make your clothes look great but feeling luxurious underneath it all will make you exude stylish attitude no matter what you’re wearing!
karenveronica@yahoo.com
As long as your hair looks good and you have on a great pair of shoes everything else will fall into place.
