Be a Radio Flyer!

Posted by Candace on Nov 20, 2008 | 243 Comments

Radio Flyer’s Turbo Turtle is another hit from a fantastic toy company.

My appreciation for Radio Flyer runs deeper than just nostalgia for the Radio Flyer Classic Red Wagon–they continue to come out with fun, innovative toys. And their new ride-on, Turbo Turtle, is a wild ride for toddlers an preschoolers.

The best part about the Turbo Turtle is the spinning indoor-outdoor caster wheels. Unlike many ride-on toys that seem to have the turning radius of a Mac Truck, the Turbo Turtle can spin on a dime.

My daughter can move the Turbo Turtle with her feet or push off and glide and use the ride-on safely both indoors and outdoors.

There is the all-important under-seat storage, because toddlers love to put things in and take them out and hide the remote controller whenever their grandparents want to watch television.

A feature with mixed benefits is the electronic dashboard. My daughter thought it was the coolest, but the sound effects gave me flashbacks to a 1980s arcade where I wasted some of my youth and a lot of my parents’ quarters. You are the parent, though, so you have the choice to pull the batteries or keep them in.

And the Turbo Turtle comes ready to ride right out of the box, batteries included, which an essential for stress-free Holiday Gift giving–so you can spend time lighting the Menorah, baking cookies for Santa, and enjoying your family.

Toddlers will love this adorable new addition to the Radio Flyer family.

My son got a radio flyer wagon for his first birthday. We don’t have any funny stories or memorable experiences yet, but we do love the wagon, the storage under the seat and the cup holders for mom and dad. I think he would love this toy – he doesn’t have any ride on toys yet, but loves to get on and off his cousins when we visit. Thanks for sharing!

Before I was a mother, I was a toy buyers — and we used to have Radio Flyers set up in our toy department in our department stores. Saturdays were wonderfully chaotic as kids were pulling each other around and sitting and driving wagons and more. Children can pull wagons but they cannot always see over the tops of strollers — and the radio flyer steer and stroll tricycle is the best — independence with a firm hand on the tiller for Mom.

My Dad was so excited that he had found the bike. He was at a hardware store and they had them for sell. They were a reproduction or something like that. I was just proud that it was a bike (and not a trike) and that it was red.

My brother and I used our Radio Flyer Wagon for everything. We especially loved riding it down the driveway. By the time that we were in high school the wagon was incredibly beat up but we still were able to use it to move stones, wood, etc. around the backyard. What a great wagon!

I never got a Radio Flyer when I was a youngin’, I wanted one but all I got was a knock off that the paint fell off. Saddest thing is my parents still have that old one at their house! They use it for the garden, it has carried cement, rocks, dirt, you name it. Tires have been replaced and it is a pile of rust but sigh, they still use it.

Now fast forward to me seeing one in the Sears Wishlist Catalog, I made comment on it. So what did my infant son get for Christmas, MY RADIO FLYER, the nerve! LOL…but get this, it was the mini version of it, his little body fit so easy into it, we have pictures.

The Radio Flyer Turbo Turtle is so awesome, never seen it before but now I am certainly wanting it…hey do you think I could ride in it? *giggle*

Thank you for the chance, Happy Holidays to you and yours.

My favorite Radio Flyer memory is riding my wagon down the big hill in the neighborhood….steering (or trying to steer) with the handle pulled inside the wagon! So much fun (although my kids would be in big trouble if I ever saw THEM doing that!).

Radio Flyer is such a great company with SO MANY great toys for kids. You know you can trust the brand and that it will last for years.

    Thanks for the giveaway!!

My cousins lived on a street that was on a hill. We would take turns literally flying down the hill in their Radio Flyer. The trick was at the bottom of the hill you had to tip the wagon over onto the lawn by the sidewalk to stop the wagon from going into the avenue at the bottom of the street. A lot of bandaids got used from the little scrapes we all seemed to get but it didn’t stop the lineup for the next wild ride down.

Our radio flyer wagon from the 60’s was so durable that the wheels on it were beginning to wear rough. It sort of reminded me of the flinstones wheels but made for an interesting ride down the steep hills.
