These are the Environmentally Conscious People in Your Neighborhood

6228_eco_town02With the Eco Town from Plan Toys, your kids will find a new earth-friendly surprise around every corner.

We played with a set that includes a play mat with plenty of green set, an eco home, train station, vehicle charging station, and more–and all of these toys teach about sustainable development. Clean energy is spotlighted in this earth-friendly town. You can see my video of the Eco Town in action here.

eco-town-photoPlay mats allow kids to re-enact the highlights and challenges of their day and process their experiences.  They are also a great way to encourage relatively peaceful parallel play for toddlers and interactive play for preschoolers and kindergartners, teaching sharing and taking turns.

The Eco Town is a great open-ended toy for sparking play. Younger kids will enjoy pushing their electric cars, scooters, and bicycles around the town and old kids can plan the layout of their community.

There is no limit to the configurations and the Eco Town provides a great opportunity to discuss ecology with your future civil engineer.  Children can consider the benefits of public transportation and explain their rational for the town’s layout.

With Plan Toys, we like knowing that the company that manufactures these toys actually supports these values by using sustainable materials, fair trade facilities, and non-toxic finishes.
My daughter’s favorite feature is the green space and ponds where her toy deer romp and she also likes the train and train station.  She enjoys zooming the bikes around and we talk about using less gas.  With older children this set is a perfect introduction to alternative forms of energy.
Teach your children about the relationship between society and the environment by engaging in some mini-community building.

WANT IT: The Plan Toys Eco Town is $150 for the starter set. Purchase from Plan Toys, one of the many retailers that carry Plan Toys, or Amazon.
