recycled-rice-bag-toteFor Mother’s Day, how about an eco-chic gift that also helps women in impoverished areas avoid or overcome slavery?

The Emancipation Network (TEN) is an international organization dedicated to fighting human trafficking and modern day slavery. Through Made by Survivors, TEN provides survivers of slavery and people at risk of being trafficked into slavery with an opportunity for a  sustainable income, education and help reintegrating into society.

They had me at saving women from slavery.

As if that is not already enough, you can help by purchasing the beautiful gifts these survivors make.  In honor of Mother Earth Day, why not check out this Recycled Rice Bag Tote.  A very socially responsible present, this tote reuses rice bags that might otherwise be discarded, turns them into a cute carry to substitute for disposable bags, and provides survivors in Cambodia with new opportunities.

We talk about sustainable development and preserving our natural resources–TEN is an organization that believes that neither materials nor, more importantly, people should be cast away.

WANT IT: Check out all of The Emancipation Network’s products at Made by Survivors.
