Recycle, Re-Play, Re-Think: Green Toys Review and Giveaway

Green Toys Recycling Dump TruckReuse, reduce, and recycle for a more eco-friendly lifestyle. The new Recycling Dump Truck from Green Toys teaches all these concepts by example and through play.

The Green Toys Tea Set is a favorite of ours and Green Toys has rescued more treasure from the trash heap with its new action toys made from recycled milk jugs. Check out this video tour of the new line of Green Toys we previewed at Toy Fair 2009.

These tough toys are designed to hold up to the roughest toddlers.  And, even better, this thick and durable plastic is eco-friendly and food grade, BPA-free and phthalate-free.

Green Toys reduces waste with its minimal recycling and by keeping all of its manufacturing in California–instead of using vital energy resources to ship toys from overseas. As kids fill up the truck, you can talk about the limited space for waste disposal and why it is important to create less garbage.

Reuse the box on the recycling truck by cutting out the cardboard paper, plastic, and metal tokens.  Your child will have a lot of fun sorting the recycling and pushing the tokens through the slots on the truck, then emptying it out and starting all over again.  This is a great opportunity to talk about ways you can re-purpose materials instead of adding them to the landfill.

    Here’s my favorite reason why Green Toys are good for the environment: The toys are truly local creations. Every step in the process, from milk container recycling to toy production to final assembly, occurs in California. Our raw materials and toys aren’t shipped from overseas, which saves a lot of energy and reduces greenhouse gasses.

    I got my daughter the sand castle, shovel & pail set for the beach because she was so active I was afraid of getting her a metal set, thinking she might actually bonk some other poor child on the head with the heavy pail by accident causing serious injury or poke out an eye with the shovel thinking she was helping, then try to kiss it and make it all better. This was a great solution to other plastic toys becuase I really wanted to stay away from toys that were laden with PVC’s, BPA and a load of other toxic chemicals. It also made me feel great to know I was lending a hand to the enviroment!
