Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree with Anyone Else But Me…
The name “Radio Flyer” evokes memories of flying down the driveaway on my tricycle and, of course, hauling freshly picked apples in a classic red wagon. A beautiful thing about parenthood is the opportunity to relive those memories with my children.
Just in time for apple-picking season, Radio Flyer sent me their Ultimate Comfort Wagon, a fresh take on a classic toy.
While I love the vintage look of the classic wood and metal wagon, this update has some neat practical features while preserving much of the charm of the originals.
Like many of the newer models, the Ultimate Comfort Wagon is designed with the idea that kids will be riding in it. So, there are seats and belts and the seats are even covered for added comfort.
The configuration of the seats makes this a real flexible wagon. You can fold both seats down or just one. There’s a tray table, as well, and molded drink holders.
My favorite feature is the removable canopy–which gives a little shade when you are out in the glare. For future re-imaginings of the classic red wagon, I would suggest some roll-down UV-protecting mosquito netting.
If you plan to spend a lot of time with your kids apple picking, tailgating, or at craft fairs, this is a neat way to provide a mobile base. You’ll be able to wheel your gear, your purchases, and any tired kiddos who need a break.
My kids, including the preschooler who almost always prefers to walk, love to ride in the wagon, making it useful for covering ground quickly, like when we have to park far away from fair grounds. And the kids love being able to face each other and help to “carry” our supplies for the day–especially the snacks.
One of the reasons Radio Flyer remains a favorite for me is because it designs its products with active, usually outdoor play in mind. Head out to the orchard and bring your haul home to make apple treats and crafts, skip watching the game on television and take a trip to the stadium instead, bring the little ones to their big sister’s soccer match, and enjoy the fresh air and creative possibilities.

My son got an really nice Radio Flyer wagon for his 1st birthday. I remember the next Halloween, he helped me load up pumpkins in it. It was just so sweet. Of course, that was many years ago, and now my littlest could use one that her big brother hasn’t beaten up.
I remember pulling my baby sister down the street in ours! I was so proud, we bumped along and had a great time.

I used to take my kids on walks in their little red wagon and yes it was a radio flyer! I used it one time in the yard during a yard sale to stack some items in and an old man wanted to know if it was for sale! He wanted to buy my kids wagon! Of course I said no, it was fairly new and still shiny! And the kids loved it!
flying down the hill in one of those old metal ones. yes we got hurt, but o it was fun!!
My parents had saved my old wagon. Whenever we go over to their house my kids love to take the wagon and go around the block picking up pinecones. My mom always makes a fuss over how many they’ve found and “how beautiful they are”. She saves them all in a big plastic bag in the shed. Not sure what she’s ever going to do with them!
Favorite memory? How about the day my brother dumped me out of ours and I ended up with a huge bump. We still have the one my son got for his 2nd bday, and are saving it for his kids, tho these look SO much more wonderful than what we had “back in the day” maybe we’ll just continue to use it for yard clean up and get the grandkids a new model!
The Radio Flyer Wagon reminds me of Halloween! Last year we took my 19-month-old and his 19-month-old friend trick-or-treating in their wagon. They were so comfy and happy. And our friend gnawed through a wrapped candy bar in no-time!

We had a raido flyer growing up, and I used to pull my brothers all over town (small town). We’d go to the grocery store, to the park or “race” it down the street. I miss that poor thing, it got left behind when we moved one year.

Great memories with our ole wagon, I have 11 brothers and sisters and my twin and I being the oldest were always the ones ending up pulling the wagon with younger sibs. Our wagon had no plastic parts back then, it was rusted but we had it for years. We used it to haul everything, kids, and stuff back and forth from the garden.

When I was growing up, my cousins and I would take turns pulling each other in my Radio Flyer wagon up and down the wide double-driveway between my house and my grandmother’s house next door.
When our first child was born, my father spiffed up my large and sturdy Radio Flyer wagon for his grandson. He even painted his grandson’s first name on the back of the wagon.
Twenty-eight years later, we still have that Radio Flyer wagon as a cherished memento of two generations of childhoods!
I have pictures from when I was 2 yrs old… sitting in our Radio Flyer red wagon with my older sister! My mom or dad would take us on walks in that wagon all the time!! I would really love to win this for my kids!!!

It was also pretty cool to hold on to the handle and go down the big hill behind our house.I got a few bruises, but it was worth it:)
my brother and i used the both jump in and go down a great big hill mverno@roadrunner.com
The following isn’t my favorite, but definitely the most memorable. Warning: stop now if you have an especially weak stomach.
When I was about 8 and my brother was nearly 2 we were riding our Radio Flyer wagon down our sloped driveway toward the garage. We’d zoom down the driveway and into the open half of the garage. Then we’d climb out, I’d pull the wagon back up to the highest point of the driveway, Nick would follow me up, we would climb back in together and do it again. And again. Until my impeccable steering skills failed and I drove us too close the the edge of the garage opening. Nick’s hands were wrapped around the lip of the wagon, and his index finger was literally sliced off just above the top knuckle. I remember it being flopped over backwards, hanging by the thinnest piece of skin. My mom drove us to the emergency room with Nick in my lap, a clean dish cloth wrapped around his finger, and me holding it all on. He’s 25 now, and amazingly you have to really look hard to see the scar.
I’d love a Radio Flyer wagon for my son and daughter. But maybe only because our driveway is extremely level.
My kids loved their radio flyer. My dad couldnt wait to buy my son one. He got it way before Christmas or his birthday..lol
TAKING MY DAUGHTER FOR A WALK. ALWAYS TOOK THE RADIO FLYER FOR HER DOLLS. AS SOON AS SHE GOT TIRED SHE JUMPED IN AND I PULLED ALL HOME. GREAT MEMORIES EVEN NOW AFTER 44 YEARS.
I never had a radio flyer wagon so I don’t have a memory but I sure would have loved one!

We had a long driveway and my sisters and
I would take turns riding in the red radio flyer wagon and the others would push and pull. We used to see how fast we could go.
I had an old metal Radio Flyer and lived in a hilly neighborhood. One day my sister and I decided to ride the wagon down one of the larger hills. We found out that trying to steer using the handle while in the wagon as it rockets downward is simply not possible. We also learned solo standing trips down wouldn’t fare any better. But we had a good time. Fortunately it was a grassy hill with no road below.
I just remember cruising around in mine with my friends when I was little.

When I was a child we had a old school metal Radio Flyer wagon. I remember my dad taking us on all sorts of adventures in it! Frequently we would ride to the library and take out so many books that the wagon was too full and we had to walk home :)

My favorite Radio Flyer memory from my own childhood was pulling a wagon with all my stuffed animals in it around the driveway – loved to pretend we were on an adventure. I know my young boys would love to ride in this new wagon.
I never had a radio flyer as a child so, to make up for that empty spot in my childhood, I’ve made darn sure that both of my children have one ;-) My favorite memory is recent, when my baby got her’s for her 2nd birthday and I watched as both of my girls peddled and giggled the afternoon away. Good stuff.
We had Radio Flyer sleds. We had so much fun flying downs hills and down paths through the woods.
When I was four, my friend Michael and I heard that people didn’t like to have snails in their yards, so we collected all the snails we could find in my wagon and tried to drown them at his house. It must have been at least 50 snails. Of course, it didn’t work, and I never found out what our parents did with all those snails:)
My favorite memory is of pulling my little sister around in our wagon. She is about 9 years younger than me and I was a doting big sister when she was a baby.
I remember putting one knee inside the wagon and using the other to push. I got very good at steering it.

When I was in middle school I was the only kid I knew with a real sled. I had an antique Radio Flyer. I was delighted when it was purchased for me. Riding that sled was like riding the wind, nothing was faster! I made sure to carefully dry the rails before putting it away every single time I used it. It was a prized possession. Thinking of those cold winter days still makes me smile.

I wasn’t lucky enough to have my own wagon. My cousin had one and we used it to take our Tonka Trucks out to the garden or field to play. We built roads and made our “home” spots.

My favorite memory is of my sister and I taking turns pulling each other and (trying to) the dogs in the rusty Radio Flyer wagon in the driveway.
I didn’t grow up in the States, so I’ve never had a Radio Flyer. I’d love to win one, so I can build memories with my two little boys.
We use to pull each other all of the time when we were kids. Roger would pull me in his little red wagon, or I would pull him. We had loads of fun and even use to put the dog in there and pull him around.

riding down a hill, yes we got hurt, but
My Favorite Radio Flyer memory is when I was a child and we would tie the wagon to a bicycle and pull people around. Yeah, we crashed alot.
We had the wooden flyer and my favorite memory is taking off the sides, they felt like big puzzle pieces to me, to let friends in, and then putting those sides back in. It’s funny how the little things we do as kids stick with us.
Thank you for the giveaway.
Oh my goodness, I can still remember my sister and I having a little red Radio Flyer wagon, and of course my daughter had one too when she was little, we use to haul our dolls around in our wagaon!

Being pulled by my grandparents while eatting grapes.
I remember buying this for our first grandchild. Now our daughter #2 is expecting a baby and we certainly will need another one for this family. We have pulled our grandchildren everywhere in these….fairs, carnivals, walks in the park…oh what fun we have had.
I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite, but my parents couldn’t afford one when I was smaller. I do remember watching the neighbor kids play with theirs though.
When I was young, our neighbor had an old, metal red flyer wagon. We’d take turns pushing eachother around the yard…always, too fast…and we wipe out turning corners. Boy, that was fun!
my brother and I going down that huge hill at grandma’s . Gosh we had so much fun and lots of bumps but I would not have traded it for anything
I love to win this for my sister in law she is pregnant with twins and could really use this!

My favorite Radio Flyer moment is when we used to take my oldest daughter, who is now 18, to the Renaissance Fair with her sitting in it being pulled by us. I’d love to win one of these for my younger girls because the one we had is long gone.

We used to take our kids and their Radio Flyer to the 4th of July festivities every year. It gave them a place to sit and ride when they were tired, to sit during the fireworks display, and to collapse for the ride home afterwards.
I don’t remember what I had, but I was sick and the doctor told my mother I needed to be careful not to over exert myself for two weeks to prevent some other condition from occurring. My brother had a Radio Flyer wagon and he, my sister, and I would spend hours taking turns pulling the wagon around the block while the other two rode. Those two weeks, I never had to take a turn at pulling my siblings around in the Radio Flyer wagon, and I got to sit back and ride.
My twins love being pulled around in their cousins red metal radio flyer wagon. One with seats and canopy looks a lot safer though I never had a radio flyer but always admired the bikes and think the mini wagons are adorable for storage

Can remember putting one knee down on the bed, one foot on the ground, holding handle, and pushing as fast as I could go.
My best friend lived 5 houses down. I would load the wagon with dolls, games, etc and head out for the day.
I remember as a kid riding in my radio flyer wagon. My older sister would pull me along and try to flip it over so I would fall out.
I always wanted a radio flyer wagon! I would love this for my son, so he can build memories! =)
Entering in hopes to give a little guy a awesome gift.
When I was little being the oldest of 7 children toys were few and far between but when we got a toy it was meant to last through all 7 of us. One Christmas it was the coldest and snowiest in years and we lived out in the country miles from the stores and parks so I had asked for indoor toys as I hate cold and snow, well on Christmas my grandparents had me stay at there house I woke up and their were toys everywhere a doll house iron and ironing board and so much more but the best was this big shiny new red radio flyer wagon filled with more toys but the best gift was the red wagon because I had learned that all the turtle I had helped my grandpa catch over the summer and fall had went to buy all the gifts and that red wagon which I used in the spring to help my grandpa haul vegetables, turtles, fruit made so many memories that I treasure to this day and that wagon did last for years even until my oldest daughter was about 5 then my youngest brothers decided to ride the porch steps and basement steps in a effort to build a in door roller coaster that ended the life of my red wagon.

My fav memory is our Mom pulling us around every Halloween in our “Big Red” wagon. We went from house to house in comort and style! The wagon was all metal back then and made tire noises on the sidewalks. We loved it! All three of us would hang our legs off and drag them, upsetting Mom. She was the best and our Radio Flyer lasted for over 10 years of Halloween rides. :)
Our family was given a nice used Radio flyer wagon when I was a child. My older siblings would pull me around and around the kitchen table in order to keep me passified and quiet.
I had a Radio Flyer wagon when I was a little kid. I loved having my mom pull me everywhere in it, then it got old and rusted and we had to get rid of it. Thanks so much for such a wonderful giveaway, my youngest daughter would love this!

We actually came across a original one at a flea market and painted it, filled it with Easter candy and gave it to the kids for Easter one year. My favorite memory is when the kids woke up and saw what the Easter bunny had left them they were so happy! Somebody ended up stealing it out of our yard though and that makes me sad.

I had a radio flyer when I was a young child. I really enjoyed it. We had a nice size hill coasting down to our house then a grassy hill off to the left. I’d fly down the driveway then over the grassy hill all the way down to the creek. It’s all fenced in now and these days it would be child abuse to let a kid do that but it sure was fun in the 60’s.
My favorite Radio flyer memory was watching my brother open one on a Christmas morning, shrieking with delight and alarming the neighbors.
I loved towing my dolls and my little brother around in our Radio Flyer wagon when I was a little girl!
I remember getting a new puppy and pulling it up and down the sidewalk in a Red Flyer to show it to all the neighbors.
I always loved my Radio Flyer! It was always full of dolls and rocks!
My neighbor has one & we pull our daughters around the neighborhood in it. They love it!
My favorite Radio Flyer Memory is when my brother and I were messing around in the field across the street. We were really young. We were walking around the pond and found this gigantic prehistoric looking turtle. We got our friends to help us load it up into the wagon that we took with us every where. Of course it was one of the good old heavy duty Radio Flyers. That darn turtle didn’t even fit in there. We all marched back to our house to show my mother. We were so proud of our find. Before my mom even made it out of the door she started to scream. My dad later told us that the turtle was a snapping turtle and probably could have taken off a finger or hand. Of course we had to set it free. After we got back, my mom sat there mumbling about disgusting creatures and my father’s children, that’s what she referred to us as at “certain” times, as she scrubbed our wagon with bleach. That was like the only time that wagon was ever clean. Those were the days. The wagon you are giving away would be a great one for my boys. We live in Alaska and I am sure there are lots of crazy things for them to haul home to me. My mom says I am payin’ for my raisin’ LOL

I remember my older cousin pulling me around the farm that I lived on in my radio flyer wagon! :-)
I remember pulling my little brother around in the wagon against his will. He was always scared and would cry.

My brother use to make homemade railroad tracks out of 2 by 4’s and pull me in the radio flyer along those tracks. Of course then the wagon was metal and at the time it was not so fun, but I’ve always remembered that growing up! It was pretty creative :)
This is my husband’s favorite memory since I’ve never had one (I know, I know – unbelievable!). He said that him and his brothers and sister (all very close in age) used their wagon for EVERYTHING. Hauling each other around, filling it with dirt and rocks and anything else that needed to be hauled somewhere.
I had a wagon when I was a little girl. I use to made my puppy ride in it while I pull him. When the puppy grew up, he use to jump in the wagon and want me to pull him.
I had so much fun with my wagon as a child that I bought my Son a Radio Flyer wagon on his 3rd birthday.
My favorite memories of my Radio Flyer was hauling my pets around on the family farm.
My favorite Radio Flyer memory was when I was a kid, my big sister used to pack me and our toys in the wagon and pull us around the neighborhood, pretending we were in a parade!

going to the market sitting in them.. and then having to walk (since we filled the wagon!!!)
When my son was about 8 months old we got a Radio Flyer wagon and took it with us to a pumpkin farm. He looked so happy sitting in it while we were pulling him around the farm.
My sisters and I loved getting in the little red wagon and pulling the handle into the wagon and speeding down the long sidewalk hill! That was fun! Thanks! senekers@comcast.net
I remember my first daughter having a little bike Radio flyer that you push with your feet when she was like one..brings back alot of memories.
My favorite memory was when my mom used to pull us around our neighborhood in Niagara Falls, NY. My dad had the only car in the family and mom used the wagon for all of her errands. From mailing a letter to going grocery shopping, my sister and I got to ride in that wagon almost every day. Thanks for making me think of simpler, fun-filled days as a child. Great contest!
I can remember the delight on my grandfather’s face when he presented his only great grandchild (my daughter) with a beautiful wood sided Radio Flyer wagon. She was so excited, but I think that the most excited was my Grandpa. He used to call her “the little girl”, and truly adored her. He wanted her to have the best wagon in the world, and when my Dad took him shopping, he said that only a Radio Flyer wagon would do! I had another child, a son, and both of the kids had so much fun with that special wagon!

I remember pulling my little sister to the top of a big hill and then pushing her down and her laughing and crying at the same time because the hill was so rocky that she was bumping all over the place all the way down.
I remember I had a small red wagon, I was about 4 years old and I found a small field mouse, I made a home for it out of grass an pulled it around in the wagon for a day
I was a young teenager and my friend and I were babysitting her (then) two year old nephew, and he had a little girl friend on a play date and they were sitting in a Radio Flyer and they kept kissing each other! It was too cute
My favorite Radio Flyer memory is when we got my daughters their first rocking horse for Christmas. They played with him until the wee hours of the night.
I have great memories of my Dad pulling around my brother and I in our radio flyer. We would go to the zoo yearly and always pack our little red wagon.
Dad also would always load us in our wagon and walk to the coner to our community parade. What wonderful memroies!
I have never had one myself. My favorite memory is seeing my a picture of my father with my grandfather in his radio flyer as a child. I would love to have a picture of my son with my husband. It’s just something about Radio Flyer that makes you think of childhood memories. Thanks for the great contest :)
Moved to a New House and Town. Not used to hills! Went down the sidewalk quite fast down said hill and hit cement step up where neighbors started. Bloody Nose and distrupted the moving in.Never forgotten in the Old House stories!!!
We would pull the kids around in their wagon (especially one Halloween). THank you
Oh man, I had one when I was little and my brother used to tip me out of it all the time. And still, I miss him. Go figure. ;)

I remember having a metal Radio Flyer wagon when I was a kid, growing up on a small farm, then when my first child was born, my dad got us the same thing, a metal Radio Flyer..but it is shallow and the kids can’t really ride in it comfortably (or safely) so this wagon is SO what I need!
My brother had a Radio Flyer Wagon. He would load all his toys in it and haul them around the neighborhood!
I remember my dad pulling me around when I was young. I used to make him drag me up the driveway every time he walked out to check the mail.
When my kids were growing up my husband was still in school. We only had one car so our wagon was my transportation to the park with the kids. Great memories!

my favorite Radio Flyer memory was the first time I got my old metal one from when I was a kid and managed to ride it down a hill that was a 30% angle and over 500 feet down and never wiped out.

I remember pulling my baby brother around in his little red radio flyer when we were kids. He always wanted to go faster and faster.
I remember my daughter’s first wagon. I had never had a Radio Flyer and was determined to buy one for my kids. She loved being pulled in that and long after she outgrew it she pulled her toys in that wagon.

I recall riding with my brother and my best friend. We would go to the top of the hill and roll down and steer.. so fun..
I got a Radio Flyer wagon for my 3rd birthday. It’s almost 40 years later and my mom and aunts still like to laugh about how I was “so excited that I piddled in the brand new wagon”!

My son has one of the old-fashioned wooden type radio flyers. This looks like quite an upgrade. Love the canopy.
I can remember back in the 50’s my dad got me a radio flyer wagon. I am a girl but I wanted one to ride my dolls in. I would love to win one for my little grandson. Thanks for a great giveaway!
