Harumika Giveaway

Posted by Candace on Nov 17, 2009 | 45 Comments

Harumika Fashion Design DollNext up on our 12 Days of Giveaways is another Hottest Holiday Toys Award-Winner.  I fell in love with Harumika when I received it for review in July (full review + video of my three year old creating a fashion design with Harumika).

And when I say “fell in love with” I mean that I actually play “Project Runway” with it at night when my daughter is sleeping.

It is a simple and creative toy that any future fashion designer will love.  You simply drape fabric around the mannequin and then press the excess into the rubber “style lock system” with the stylus.

Reuse old fabrics, add stickers, photograph and share your design–this is a toy that never gets old and your child will not outgrow until the kid is ready for a first sewing machine.

WANT IT: Harumika sets start at a grab-bag, stocking-stuffer, or one night of Channukah budget-friendly $11.

WIN IT: For our 12 Days of Giveaways, Harumika is generously offering a package of their: I Heart Harumika Style Starter Set, Paris, Scene Queen Style Starter Set, France Designer Dress Form Set, Jewel Tone Style Accent Set, School Days Style Accent Set (ARV $50).

I think my daughter’s fashion inspiration is likely Betsey Johnson. She pairs long pigtails with orange shorts, knee high yellow socks, black patent leather shoes, and a feather boa. She thinks she looks fabulous and runway worthy!

My daughter’s design inspiration is Wicked Witch of the West meets Angelina Ballerina, with a boho streak. Black boots, and dresses with as many layers of furbelow as possible. When she saw the navy pinstripe dress I was wearing yesterday she said, “Ooooooh, Mommy, I love your witchy dress! Its beautiful!” But lately, she’s been throwing all that out the window and demanding to wear her pink polka-dot bathing suit with nothing over it outside, in NYC in Nov. With swim cap. Don’t know what the inspiration for that is, except maybe just plain Crazy.

I think my daughters’ inspiration is ME!
I definitely DON’t dress like the typical mom, which gets some serious hairy eyeballs from people.
Not sexy – just eccentric. My daughter is known as Fashionista (literally and really) by the teachers. She is 4, but she picks out a different hat to wear daily (i have no input on it) and she has reasons for each hat. They are a wide variety too!
And she has a very tomboyish/punkrock/whimsical style.

I would love you to see some of the outfits she picks out! :)

My child’s design inspiration is herself. She puts together outfits and (at four) has already come up with things that she wants to design. It is crazy.

Just stopping by to say hello! We met at the Bloggers Brunch last week.

Oops, my childs design inspiration comes from project runway. They are constantly using scraps of material or whatever they can get their hands and to make clothes for their barbies.

My daughter gets her fashion from a combination of things at the moment. She wears pink still at the age of 9 and I think she gets in from princesses. She also wears things from Wizards of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana.

My daughter draws out wedding gowns and some outfits on paper. She designs dresses for her dolls. Most of the time she uses toilet paper and tape. She even has paper drawn her ideal wedding dress. She looks at harumika and told me that would be cool to have. We are unable to afford a real sewing machine. This would be perfect for her. Please, she DESERVES it!!!
