Ok. It’s no secret that I’m OBSESSED with doll’s houses, Lundby doll’s houses in particular.  I received my first Smaland house over a year ago and it continues to bring my family and I great joy, laughter, and enough creative brainstorming to outlast any other toy in our house. Here’s a bit of background info for you: This beautiful, Swedish-designed doll’s house is the perfect starter home for your dolls. Monster 500 Racing is Ideal for a Scary Good Time

Monster 500 Racing is Ideal for a Scary Good Time

Haha bad pun but I couldn’t help myself!  My boys are starting to get into scary, weird and gross things. Normal boy stuff, in other words. So when we were sent Monster 500 Racers, the timing could not have been better. I contemplated saving these for Christmas, but I decided a little treat for them would be nice. The Monster 500 is a team of creepy, ghouly, downright gross and strange characters! Kids can collect each … Read entire article »

Chuggington Quarry Stack Track Set and Chug Patrol Ready to Rescue DVD for My Little Chuggington

Chuggington Quarry Stack Track Set and Chug Patrol Ready to Rescue DVD for My Little Chuggington

My youngest son is BEYOND obsessed with trains, and more specifically Chuggington! Everything’s always “Chuggtastic” or “Perfecto” with him!  So you can imagine how loud the squeal was when I showed him the Chuggington toys and DVD when they arrived on our doorstep! The Stone Quarry Stack Track came out of the box immediately and we went right to work on setting it up with my son’s “assistance.”  What I loved about this set was how … Read entire article »

Lundby dolls houses: A modern twist on a classic play time, Part 1

Lundby dolls houses: A modern twist on a classic play time, Part 1

When I was a little girl, I dreamt of having a doll house, but my mom (a single mother at the time) just couldn’t afford one. I’d visit friend’s houses, with their girly bedrooms all decorated with pink frilly pillows and their toy chests overflowing with the latest and greatest gadgets, but I always gravitated towards their doll houses. In it you could get lost in a sea of magic, decorating and redecorating a room … Read entire article »

Pretend Play with Octonauts Under-the-Sea Toys

Pretend Play with Octonauts Under-the-Sea Toys

My boys are at the perfect age for pretend play with toy sets of their favorite cartoon shows. We recently received Octonauts toys for review which resulted in a tug-of-war in the bathtub the other night since both wanted to play with the same thing at the same time, of course. The GUP-B Vehicle swam in and out of the bath many, many times. When kids play with familiar play sets based on popular TV shows, … Read entire article »

Prehistoric Anamalz

Prehistoric Anamalz

The poseable wooden and cloth animal figurines from Anamalz captivate my children for hours.  We’ve enjoyed our lion and crocodile and were thrilled when Anamalz sent us two creatures from their new prehistoric line. With a few broad design strokes, each figurine captures the essence of the creature it represents. The Anamalz clearly represent a particular type of animal but leave plenty of room for a child’s imagination.  These open-ended figurines are a perfect plaything. I also … Read entire article »

At the Book Blogger Convention this year, I met the founder of From Left to Write, an innovative online book club. Every month, they select a book and ask bloggers to share their thoughts about how the book inspired them. This month, the selection is The Costume Trunk by Paddywhack Lane creator Bob Fuller. Schleich Bayala 12 Days of Giveways

Schleich Bayala 12 Days of Giveways

My daughter is obsessed with Schleich figurines. Her Papa first started bringing home families of jungle animals and woodland critters.  Then, my daughter discovered the elves of Bayala and became a collector. She spends hours arranging and rearranging her elves in various scenes, narrating their adventures.  Each of the figures has a fascinating back story for older collectors, though my daughter mostly makes up her own. I love the detail on these beautiful figurines–the body art, the … Read entire article »

Up, Up, and Away!

Up, Up, and Away!

Zooming off to the most untouched parts of the earth in a romantically zebra-striped, fixed-wing prop plane sounds like my wildest vacation dreams. Now, it is part of my children’s daily play with the brand new Schleich Airplane. Schleich’s line of realistically designed toys have a treasured place in my children’s play. My eldest has been collecting their animal figurines for almost two years. We appreciate the naturalistic detail that allows us to turn … Read entire article »
