When life gets hectic, my food choices get increasingly unhealthy. When I have time to plan ahead, I pack baby carrots, apple slices and other healthy snacks to eat in the car or in between errands. But frequently I find myself grabbing convenience food or heading to the drive-thru.

My hopes were high when I received a review sample of Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 for the Nintendo Wii. My Nintendo Wii is an essential part of my exercise and fitness program, and I thought it would be fun to add more variety to my Wii Routine. (Click here for my Wii Fit review.)
The Amazon reviews of Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum 2009 are mixed. Some love the workout, and others pan the poor graphics and slow response time. After trying the game, I can understand the love/hate reviews.
If I could trade places with my 20 year old self, I wouldn’t. Not even my old perfect little waist can compare with the joy I get from my husband, my two beautiful children, and more than a decade of experience.
But what if I could keep the family and the life and in just six minutes a day, I could look a little better, a little tighter, a little more on the outside like I feel on the inside? That’s the idea behind Bootcamp for Tummies.
If you enjoy group fitness classes but don’t want to pay pricey gym membership fees, exercise DVDs are an inexpensive and effective way to feel the burn. Most fitness DVDs sell for under $20, so they are a cheap way to exercise in your own home.
I received a bunch of newly-released fitness DVD titles to test. I’ve been working out to them for a few weeks, and I’ve also lent my review copies to a fit friend who actually enjoy group fitness classes to get an additional perspective. All of the DVDS …
Even a billionaire like Oprah, who can afford personal trainers and chefs, has a difficult time staying on the diet and exercise wagon. (Read about Oprah’s recent weight gain here.) It’s even harder for moms– especially if you don’t have a lot of childcare help.
My biggest difficulty is finding time to exercise and prepare healthy meals. I am juggling work and volunteer commitments as well as taking care of my son (which is a full-time job in itself). When naptime comes, I have a long list of tasks to complete. And …
Motherhood is often stressful. When you’re busy caring for a new baby, exercise is probably the last thing on your mind.
Recovering your pre-baby body is tough if you aren’t blessed with either a fast metabolism or the willpower to exercise. Personally…I’ve always hated exercise. While I enjoy hiking or a nice walk outdoors, the thought of strength training or running on a treadmill indoors bums me out. I’ve had numerous gym memberships in the past, but I couldn’t motivate myself to keep going since I hate indoor exercise with a …
I’ve written before about how much I liked eDiets (click here for a full review). But if you want to lose weight or just eat healthier and don’t want to pay the monthly fee for eDiets, try www.sparkpeople.com.
I recently joined SparkPeople. It’s free because the people who started it were early eBay employees and made a bunch of money. SparkPeople offers many of the eDiet features I loved: nutrition tracker, fitness plans and an online community for motivation.
eDiets offers more personalized service (access to nutritionists and personal trainers is included in the …
Video Games aren’t for everyone. Candace makes a big effort to engage in only “unplugged” play. Her little girl watches almost no tv, and I highly doubt she’ll be playing video games anytime soon. While I embrace the unplugged play philosophy in theory, I see a lot of value in video games as well.
I have many happy memories of playing games on the original Atari system with my brother, and I’ve made my living in the dot com world. So Candace was amused- but probably not shocked since she’s known me so long- to discover …
Prima Princessa is a cheerful cartoon fairy who wants to share her love of ballet with your child. She floats, flitters, and glides through a condensed version of Swan Lake, performed by the Paris Opera Ballet. Interspersed with the dancing are clips of preschool girls learning dance steps, young students from the School of American Ballet at Lincoln Center rehearsing, and toys and animals dancing about. My toddler especially enjoys the critters, exclaiming, “That’s Funny! Flamingo dancing!”
By encouraging activity along with an interest in the arts, this sweet video answers …
