Pregnancy Safe Anti-Acne Wash

One of the downsides of pregnancy can be the effect it may have on your skin. Pre-pregnancy I had such healthy skin. I haven’t had a zit or blemish in years. One of the first signs of pregnancy for me was a change in my complexion. One day, out of nowhere a pimple appeared…and then another.

I determined to do something to clear up the problem. I researched to find safe products to use during pregnancy. I already knew that Retin-A is not considered safe during pregnancy. But I was surprised to find that Salicylic acid may not be safe either. According to some studies, Salicylic acid may also cause birth defects, and it is the most common ingredient in over-the-counter acne medications and washes. A small amount is probably safe, but leave-on creams are not recommended. And many sites advise pregnant women to avoid it altogether.
