Zoom, Zoom Around the Room!

Drive Around Town Car Play MatKids love pushing little toy cars around the room. A great place to push all your little vehicles is the Driving Around Town Play Mat from Rocket Bug Toys (My Lullabug – $29).

Moms know what kids like, and this mom entrepreneur thoroughly kid-tested the play mat, taking special care to create an attractive, functional, fun, and safe toy for your little ones.

An alternative to bulky and often expensive rugs, this inexpensive mat folds easily.  It is thin and compact for storage. Fold the mat as many times as you like and it will still lay flat and not bunch, even with several little ones crawling all over it. For your child’s safety, the mat is manufactured in the USA and is lead-free, BPA-free, and Phthalate-free.* The designer put a lot of time into finding the right material for this quality play mat and it shows.

Because the mat is super spacious, multiple children can play side by side with minimal conflict.  I was really impressed with the size!

There are plenty of roads, all types of buildings, and lots of parking, which the designer found is a big hit with kids.  My daughter loves to drive the car to the hospital (and then park it in the parking lot) because that is where mommy went to have little brother. She really enjoys driving her cars all around the little village on the mat and making up stories for the journeys.

Play mats are wonderful toys because they focus children’s play without restricting their creativity. With the Driving Around Town Play Mat from Rocket Bug Toys, children can go on a road trip wherever their imagination takes them.

* I was just contacted by the manufacturer (1/15/09) who let me know that some of the older stock was made with a material containing phthalates, despite assurances from her supplier.  She is working to correct this for anyone who received misinformation from this review.  Going forward, she will only be selling mats that have now been verified Phthatlate-free. We are impressed with her transparency and honesty!
