Adopt a Long Island Family Affected by Hurricane Sandy

I live here on Long Island and have just been absolutely emotionally devastated by the damage Hurricane Sandy has done to our community.

We were without power for a week but we were the lucky ones. A lot of huge trees fell but they all missed our house–some by a matter of inches but close only counts in horseshoes, hand grenades, and hurricane-blown trees, apparently.

So many have lost their homes to flood, wind, and rain. The power outage and a personal loss kept me from writing about the experience earlier but now I have a way to help that I want to share.

You (or a group) can adopt a family on Long Island who has been devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

Family to Family has agreed to lend their expertise in matching donors with families in need and Volunteer 4 Long Island is using their knowledge of the region to identify families in need who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy.

So many of our neighbors are displaced–they’ve lost everything to flood, wind, and fire damage. They need a little help to keep their families going through this natural disaster. Together we can rise above the hardship and rebuild our communities.

If as an individual or with a group you are able to adopt a family, please sign up to adopt a family affected by Hurricane Sandy at Family-to-Family. You will receive a confirmation e-mail. Once you receive the e-mail, please reply and specify you want to adopt a family on Long Island. Otherwise, you will be added to the general donor pool–and this is a long list of potential donors, a fact that somewhat renews my faith in humanity.

You will also find information on their page about cash donations, sending items to partner charities throughout New York City, and using their Amazon Store to send needed items to partners in New York City.

Even if you are struggling yourself and cannot adopt a family, would you please share this post and post it anywhere you are able?

Good post but I was wondering if you could write a litte more on this
subject? I’d be very grateful if you could elaborate a little bit further. Appreciate it!

  2. It is incredibly easy to cleanup after smoking as well as there isn’t smoke, you’ll not need to worry
about this either. By purchasing high-quality vaporizer parts replacement, the vaporizer will assure a longer time of usage, lessen repair incidents and price,
and still provide better vaporizing experience. Other important feature
of portable vaporizer is the fact that as it operates
just below the combustion temperature, it gets hot the herbs most effectively to release
its fragrance and active ingredient as well as prevent other adverse ingredients from getting released.

  3. Warm-mist humidifiers and vaporizers work by boiling water and expelling steam.
The Volcano Digit is an additional option for those
who desire to enjoy smoking without breathing every one of the injurious toxins
that comes with combustion & burning herbs.
‘ When the balloon is filled with vapor, your machine can be turned off.

  4. You will likely need to melt the beeswax and cocoa butter in the glass bowl more
than a pan of domestic hot water before adding the oils.
At recent days to relieve the usage of cigarette and
assist the addicted ones to get rid with the adverse effects of smoking the tobacco burn, e-cigarette has been launched in the
market. ‘ When this balloon mechanism is filled with vapor, the machine can be turned off.

  5. Howdy would you mind sharing which blog platform you’re working with?
I’m planning to start my own blog soon but I’m having
a difficult time choosing between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal.
The reason I ask is because your design seems different then most blogs
and I’m looking for something completely unique.
P.S Apologies for getting off-topic but I had to ask!
