How Do You Juggle It All? Cleaning Tips from a Working Mom

During my first pregnancy, I daydreamed about peaceful days spent strolling through the park or rocking a sleeping infant in my arms. While I love being a mom, my life is more chaotic than I’d envisioned. I have two young boys and work full-time outside the home. The competing demands of children and clients mean that I’m juggling all sorts of tasks from a never ending to-do list. Since my priority is finding time to spend with my boys without neglecting my responsibilities to my clients, I wind up “dropping the ball” on some tasks.  The first sacrifice I made as a working mother was sleep. I’ve decided that I would rather have an extra hour or two of playtime with my boys than sleep. 4 hours is typical. 6 hours feels like … Read entire article »

Fighting Stains With Arm & Hammer

As a mom to two little boys, I deal with a lot of messes. Boys are stain magnets. Between the grass stains and mud stains from a day on the playground or a muddy soccer game and the ketchup stains from summer barbecue parties, it is tough keeping their clothing looking like new. Using hand-me down clothing saves money, so I’m hoping my youngest will be able to wear his older brother’s clothing. But I don’t … Read entire article »

What Stains Drive You Crazy?

What Stains Drive You Crazy?

My little boys are high energy; they zoom from one activity to the next without stopping for a breath. My older son loves soccer, which is a wonderful way to keep active, but terrible for keeping his clothes clean. Everything winds up with a grass or mud stain. The clothes that manage to escape the mud and grass get stained at lunch! Removing grass stains without fading the clothing is a big task, which is why … Read entire article »

There’s An App…for that Stain

There’s An App…for that Stain

Like many moms, I spend a lot of time doing laundry even as I juggle working and taking care of two young boys. I’ve already raved about how I can do laundry one-handed while holding the baby since my new Whirlpool Duet has an automatic laundry detergent dispenser. My biggest laundry pet peeve is dealing with stains. I know it’s important to treat clothing properly, and I particularly want to keep my oldest’s clothing in good condition … Read entire article »

Washing My Cares Away With Whirlpool

Washing My Cares Away With Whirlpool

As a newlywed, I didn’t care much about my washer and dryer. Oh…how things have changed. In my pre-kid days, I wore lots of dry-clean only clothing to work. I did two or three loads of wash a week: sheets, towels/whites, and our clothing. Now as the mom to two kids, I do at least one load a day because, as every mom knows, babies make a lot of laundry. Babies dirty their clothing. They … Read entire article »

Laundry Help

Laundry Help

Between the spit-up, the diaper blow outs and the baby food, it is difficult to keep baby’s clothing stain-free.  Some of my friends tell me not to bother with stains since babies outgrow their clothing so quickly. But (aside from being type A) I’m a naturally thrifty person, so I don’t view baby clothing as disposable. I want to keep my son’s clothing looking as new as possible since I plan to either use it for our next baby, give it to a … Read entire article »
